Tennessee reported no boating-related fatalities over the Labor Day holiday weekend, marking the fifth consecutive year without a boating death during the holiday weekend, according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.
TWRA’s Boating and Law Enforcement Division compiled the 2026 holiday statistics from reports across the agency’s four regions.
There were three boating-related injury incidents statewide, occurring on Kentucky Lake, Chickamauga and Watts Bar reservoirs. Four additional incidents involved property damage.
TWRA game wardens also made eight boating under the influence arrests during the holiday weekend.
The Labor Day results also marked the third major holiday weekend of the summer with no boating fatalities. No boating deaths were reported during the Memorial Day or July 4 holiday periods either.
So far this year, Tennessee has recorded 15 boating-related fatalities, three fewer than during the same period in 2025.
