NASHVILLE – The Titans have signed veteran punter Thomas Morstead to the team’s practice squad. More Sports News
The move comes after punter Tommy Townsend suffered a knee injury in Sunday’s game vs the Browns.
The 40-year-old Morstead initially joined the NFL as a fifth-round pick of the New Orleans Saints in the 2009 NFL Draft.
In his career, Morstead has punted for the Saints (2009-2020), Jets (2021, 2023-2024), Falcons (2021), Dolphins (2022), and 49ers (2025), while most recently spending a short time on the practice squad of the Indianapolis Colts (2026).
In 272 career regular season games over his 17-year career, Morstead has booted 1,004 punts for an average of 46.7 yards, with a 41.3-yard net.
With the 49ers in 2025, Morstead averaged 43.6 yards on 44 punts, with a 36.7-yard net, putting 22 punts inside the 20-yard line.
Morstead, who played in college at SMU, was a second-team All-Pro in 2012, the same year he was named a Pro Bowler.
The Titans return to action on Sunday at the Cincinnati Bengals.
