Matthew Gordon Garrison, 43, of Antioch passed away peacefully at his sister’s home in Woodbury Wednesday, July 24, 2026. He was born on April 9, 1983, in Murfreesboro, TN, the son of Ollie Garrison of Murfreesboro and the late Sammye Chauncey Garrison.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sammye Chauncey Garrison, and his sister, Sue Ellen Bownes.
He is survived by his father, Ollie Garrison; his sister, Cindy Schroeder of Woodbury; brothers, Lonnie Garrison, Sean (Karissa) Garrison both of Murfreesboro, and William (Lisa Marie Preisler) Hampton of Cleveland, OH, and brother-in-law, David Bownes of Woodbury. Also surviving are his nieces Heather Allen (Dalton Gaither), Hailey (Joseph) Wieckhorst, Natalie Garrison, and Nadia Garrison; his nephews Seth (Emily) Schroeder, Ben (Hannah) Schroeder, and Noah Garrison. He is also survived by 7 great-nephews and 3 great-nieces.
Matthew was a web developer for Community Health Systems and an accomplished musician.
The Garrison family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. (noon), Monday, July 27, 2026, at Woodbury Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 12:30 P.M. at Prater Cemetery with Bro. Sean Garrison officiating.
