Sept. 12, 2026 — Middle Tennessee scored with 50 seconds left but failed on the two-point try and fell 28-26 at Marshall, dropping the Blue Raiders to 1-2 before conference play. More Sports News

Middle Tennessee led 20-14 into the fourth quarter behind Kalen Woods’ fumble-recovery touchdown, two Dominic Bourgeois field goals and an 11-yard scoring pass to Cam’ron Lacy. Marshall answered with a pair of short touchdown runs, the second set up by Zah Jackon’s 54-yard interception return to the MT 2. Gagliano’s 15-yard touchdown to AJ Jones capped a 10-play, 75-yard drive, but the conversion pass fell incomplete and the onside kick sailed out of bounds.

The Blue Raiders outgained Marshall 352-310 and won time of possession by more than five minutes, but converted just 3 of 12 third downs and settled for field goals on two red-zone trips. Lacy led all receivers with nine catches for 72 yards, and Gagliano was the team’s leading rusher with 58 yards. Middle Tennessee opens Conference USA play next week.
