Eagleville firefighters received a sweet thank-you this week as United Communications delivered cookies from a Spring Hill bakery to local volunteer fire departments in recognition of Volunteer Firefighters Recognition Day.
United employees organized the deliveries Tuesday, Aug. 18, bringing baked goods from The Southern Baking Co. to several volunteer departments across Middle Tennessee, including the Eagleville Fire Department.
The company said the effort was meant to recognize firefighters who protect their communities while also balancing jobs, families and other responsibilities. About 60% of Tennessee’s fire service is volunteer-run, according to United Communications, with volunteers staffing more than 73% of the state’s fire departments.
United also provides free fiber internet service to 17 volunteer fire stations across Bedford, Franklin, Lincoln, Marshall, Maury, Rutherford and Williamson counties. The company said reliable internet helps departments communicate, coordinate emergency responses, complete training and access online resources.
The company serves more than 50,000 residential and business customers across Middle Tennessee and continues to support local communities through broadband expansion, public Wi-Fi projects and nonprofit partnerships.
