Nashville Zoo has welcomed two new one-month-old Javan ferret-badgers, adding to its behind-the-scenes animal family.
On Tuesday, the zoo introduced Skippy and Nutella, who were born to parents Peanut Butter and Jelly. The babies will remain behind the scenes with their mother.
Javan ferret-badgers are small, nocturnal mammals found exclusively on the Indonesian islands of Java and Bali. The species is rarely seen in zoos and remains relatively little known in the wild.
The zoo said Skippy and Nutella will help add to its knowledge of the species.
Visitors may still get a chance to see a Javan ferret-badger during their zoo visit. Huckleberry, the zoo’s ambassador Javan ferret-badger, sometimes makes surprise appearances in Unseen New World.
