USADA announced that Erin Oprea of Nashville, an athlete in the sport of triathlon, has received a five-year period of ineligibility after testing positive for multiple prohibited substances.Click for More News
Oprea, 49, tested positive for ostarine (enobosarm), LGD-4033 (ligandrol) metabolite dihydroxy-LGD-4033, and exogenous testosterone as the result of a urine sample collected in-competition at the Music City Triathlon on May 31, 2026. Oprea’s sample was analyzed using a specialized test known as Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry (IRMS), that unequivocally differentiates between anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS) naturally produced by the body and AAS of synthetic origin. The IRMS analysis was consistent with the exogenous origin of testosterone and/or its metabolites in Oprea’s sample.
Ostarine, LGD-4033, testosterone, and their metabolites are non–Specified Substances in the class of Anabolic Agents and are prohibited at all times under the USADA Protocol for Olympic and Paralympic Movement Testing, the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee National Anti-Doping Policy, and the World Triathlon Anti-Doping Rules, all of which have adopted the World Anti-Doping Code and the World Anti-Doping Agency Prohibited List.
The default sanction for a positive test involving non–Specified Substances is four years. However, USADA imposed an enhanced five-year sanction in this case after determining that Oprea’s use of multiple prohibited substances and failure to cooperate with the investigation constituted aggravating circumstances under the applicable rules. Oprea’s five-year period of ineligibility began on June 16, 2026, the date her provisional suspension was imposed. In addition, Oprea has been disqualified from all competitive results obtained on and after May 31, 2026, the date her sample was collected, including forfeiture of any medals, points, and prizes.
Erin Oprea was formerly a celebrity trainer in Nashville and founder of the Pretty Muscles app. The incident occurred at the Music City Triathlon.
