The ceremony celebrated the vertical completion of the project and the next step into the interior build-out phase. The final beam, signed by members of the construction team and company leaders, was ceremonially placed during the event.
Speakers included Metro Nashville District 15 Councilmember Jeff Gregg; Colin Reed, Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors for Ryman Hospitality Properties, Inc.; and Jim Root, Senior Superintendent with D.F. Chase Inc., DBA Chase Construction Group.
The expansion is part of Ryman’s continued investment in its large group resort strategy, as Nashville continues to see strong demand for meetings and conventions. Once complete, the project is expected to help Gaylord Opryland attract additional group business while supporting jobs and economic activity in the region.
“Gaylord Opryland is the property that helped build the Gaylord Hotels brand into the powerhouse it is today,” Reed said in a release. “This expansion incorporates the best ideas and innovations we have deployed across our portfolio over the past several decades and returns them to where it all began nearly 50 years ago. I want to thank Marriott and the Gaylord Opryland team, our partners at D.F. Chase, and everyone who has helped us reach this important milestone. We look forward to welcoming our guests into this new space next year.”
Announced in January 2025, the expansion will add approximately 108,000 square feet of meeting space to the resort. Plans include a 31,000-square-foot ballroom, 38,000 square feet of breakout space and 39,000 square feet of pre-function space.
The project is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2027.
