The recall affects 10-ounce bags of GreenWise Organic IQF Blueberries with lot code 60401 and a best-by date of February 9, 2028. The product was sold at Publix stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.

According to the recall notice, 12 illnesses reported between May 11 and June 5 have been linked to the contaminated blueberries.

E. coli O145 can cause severe stomach cramps, diarrhea that may be bloody, and vomiting. In some cases, especially among young children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems, the infection can lead to a serious kidney condition known as hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS).

Customers who have the recalled blueberries should not eat them. Publix advises customers to throw the product away or return it to the store for a full refund. The company also said customers should discard or return any GreenWise frozen blueberries purchased on or before July 3, 2026, if they match the affected product information.
