Centennial Parkwill welcome its first permanent dining destination later this summer with the opening of Croquet Cafe. More Eat & Drink News
Created and funded by Centennial Park Conservancy in partnership with Metro Parks, the nonprofit cafe is expected to open in late August inside the park’s historic 1963 Croquet Clubhouse.
Every purchase will support Centennial Park, with proceeds benefiting park beautification and revitalization, preservation of the Parthenon and the Conservancy’s ongoing work with Metro Parks.
The menu was developed with guidance from Joseph Bogan and Crystal De Luna-Bogan, founders of The Grilled Cheeserie. Inspired by a Southern picnic, Croquet Cafe will serve salads, paninis, wraps, picnic boxes, locally roasted coffee, baked goods, smoothies, soft-serve treats and grab-and-go items.
Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options will also be available. Located at 2530 Park Plaza on the park’s north side, the cafe is within walking distance of the Parthenon, Lake Watauga and Centennial Park’s green spaces. The space will offer indoor seating, covered outdoor tables and picnic areas on the nearby lawn.
The project transforms the former Croquet Clubhouse into a new gathering place while preserving part of the park’s mid-century history. More than $1.7 million in philanthropic support helped fund the renovation, including a leadership gift from The Frist Foundation.
The opening is part of the ongoing revitalization of Centennial Park’s north side, which also includes a new entrance along Park Plaza, an event pavilion and improved pedestrian pathways. A grand opening celebration is being planned. The official opening date, hours, and full menu will be announced at a later date.
