Nancy Jones, widow of country music legend George Jones, will celebrate what would have been “The Possum’s” 95th birthday with a special tribute at The Nashville Palace on Sunday, September 13. More Entertainment News
The event will take place at 4 p.m. in the venue’s Randy Travis Room, with performing artists expected to be announced in the coming days.
“George Jones remains one of the most beloved country music singers of all time and I could not let this birthday milestone go by and not celebrate,” Nancy Jones said in a release. George Jones was born Sept. 12, but Nancy moved the celebration to Sunday to make it easier for touring artists and longtime friends to attend.
“So many of George’s friends are coming to celebrate with us,” she said.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Concerts 4 A Cause and the George Jones Scholarship at Middle Tennessee State University. The scholarship supports students at MTSU, where a course focuses on the life and music of George Jones.
“I want to make sure George’s legacy continues through the next generation,” Nancy Jones said.
Josh Bleidt, founder of Concerts 4 A Cause, said the organization is honored to partner with Jones again while supporting music education and future songwriters.
Tickets are on sale now, with general admission beginning at $50. Rail seating is $75, while VIP tables for four start at $1,000.
