The September 16 event brought Pitt, director David Ayer, and other guests to the outdoor venue at Graystone Quarry for the premiere of the new adventure thriller.
“This is amazing. We have been having so much fun in Nashville,” Pitt said ahead of the screening.
Pitt also said the FirstBank Amphitheater setting reminded him of old drive-in movie theaters, with audiences gathering outdoors to watch a film together.
He added that the movie is “for our canine companions,” a nod to the central relationship between his character and the dog at the heart of the story.
Heart of the Beast follows Special Forces officer James Belmont, played by Pitt, after a harrowing plane crash leaves him and his combat dog, Odin, stranded deep in the Alaskan wilderness. Together, the two are forced into a brutal fight for survival against the elements.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker David Ayer, the adventure thriller explores the unbreakable bond between Belmont and Odin as they face what may be their greatest battle yet.
The film reunites Pitt with Ayer, who previously directed him in the World War II film Fury. Pitt also serves as a producer on Heart of the Beast.
The Franklin premiere also comes as Paramount Skydance is reportedly taking a closer look at Nashville for a potential corporate expansion or relocation. The company has been seeking roughly 400,000 square feet of office space in Nashville and has spoken with developers about possible new construction, according to Yahoo. Tennessee officials have also publicly encouraged Paramount CEO David Ellison to consider moving the company’s headquarters to the state.
The outdoor setting at FirstBank Amphitheater proved to be a fitting backdrop for a film built around wilderness, survival, and the bond between a man and his dog. While we can’t share the entire story wth you, we will say this: you don’t want to miss this movie.

Heart of the Beast is scheduled to open in theaters on Friday, September 25.
