William “George” Lindsay, age 86 of Ashland City, Tennessee, passed away Friday, October 20, 2023 at his home.
Mr. Lindsay was born on December 9, 1936 in Dover, Tennessee to the late William & Pocahontas Wofford Lindsay.
He was retired from McDonald Aircraft after 20 years. After retirement, he loved to tinker with lawn mowers and loved to cut the grass. He also worked on cars, gardening and loved his family very much. He was a member of Joelton Church of the Nazarene.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, William Franklin Lindsay.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Leona Lindsay; son, Clifford Wayne Lindsay; daughter, Marketta Ann Utley; brothers, Lawrence O’Neal (Mary Jo) Lindsay and R. Dale (Lynn) Lindsay; grandchildren, Hope Ann (Chris) Jordan, Paul David (Ashley) Utley, Grace Marie (Josh) Sullivan, and Kyle Wayne Lindsay; great-grandchildren, Cora Jordan, Ozias Sullivan, and Jonah Sullivan.
Funeral services will be conducted at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 27th with Pastor Dylan Proctor officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM in Wofford Cemetery in Dover, TN., with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, October 26th from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Friday from 10:00 AM until the hour of service at 11:00 AM.
