Several rounds of showers and thunderstorms are forecast across
portions of Middle Tennessee through Sunday morning, producing
locally heavy rainfall across already saturated soils. Several
inches of rain are possible, particularly across northwest Middle
Tennessee. Confidence in flooding and flash flooding has increased
in anticipation of these upcoming storms, and significant flooding
could occur and continue in areas of heaviest rainfall activity. We
will see rises on area streams and rivers through the rest of the
weekend.

possible.

* WHEN…Through Sunday afternoon.

* IMPACTS…Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.
Low-water crossings may be flooded. Storm drains and ditches may
become clogged with debris. Extensive street flooding and flooding

running high and could flood with more heavy rain.

possible within the watch area with the highest amounts to
come near the Tennessee Alabama border. Due to recent

Weather Alerts

Good morning, Cannon County! Weather conditions are being closely monitored as we navigate through a significant weather event. Stay tuned for further updates, and remember to stay weather aware—your safety is our priority!

Severe Weather Conditions

It’s currently 5:10 AM in Cannon County, TN, with temperatures sitting at 61°F amidst severe weather conditions. The sky is heavy and overcast, with thunderstorms actively rolling through the region. Humidity is at a staggering 100%, making the air feel dense and muggy. Winds are calm, adding to that thick atmosphere. It’s a morning that calls for caution, especially given the ongoing flood alerts.

Weather Changes Coming

As we move throughout the day, anticipate further rainfall with the potential for heavier downpours. Additional rainfall amounts of up to an inch are expected, contributing to an already saturated ground. The air is going to feel increasingly oppressive due to the humidity, making outdoor conditions less than pleasant. Minor flooding is likely in low-lying areas, so it’s essential to stay vigilant.

Today’s Outlook

Looking ahead, expect showers and thunderstorms to persist through today, particularly until early afternoon. With the flood watch in place, be prepared for possible interruptions to your daily plans due to extensive street flooding. If you’re planning to head out, remember: stay away from flooded roads, as the risk is quite high. Visibility may also be reduced during periods of intense rain, so extra caution is advised. The weather will remain unstable into the evening, keeping us on our toes as the storm system settles across the region.
