Vanderbilt Football Adds Virginia Series Through 2031

Vanderbilt and Virginia will renew their football rivalry with a home-and-home series in 2028 and 2031, both schools announced. The Commodores will host the Cavaliers in Nashville during the 2028 season, then travel to Charlottesville in 2031. More Sports News

The matchups will be the 22nd and 23rd meetings between the two programs. Vanderbilt leads the all-time series 12-7-2 and has won 11 of the last 14 meetings dating back to 1953.

A Rivalry Dating Back to 1895

Vanderbilt and Virginia first met on a neutral field in Atlanta in 1895. The teams played their first game in Nashville in 1897, though it took until 1913 for the series to make its way to Charlottesville.

Vanderbilt’s 2026 Home Schedule Kicks Off in September

Vanderbilt opens the 2026 season with three straight home games. The Commodores host Austin Peay on Sept. 5 at 6 p.m., followed by home games against Delaware on Sept. 12 and NC State on Sept. 19.

Tickets and Mini-Plans Available Now

Mini-plans and season tickets for the 2026 season are on sale. Fans can choose between two mini-plan options through the Vanderbilt ticket portal. A limited number of season tickets, including premium options, are available through the season ticket interest form.

Group tickets are available for all seven Vanderbilt home games this fall. Single-game tickets go on sale at the end of July, with full details available on the Vanderbilt football ticketing page.
