Special Teams Swing the Game
Auburn’s Cade Carlson returned a blocked punt 10 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter for a 14-3 lead, and the Tigers also blocked a Vanderbilt field goal before halftime. Sedrick Alexander’s 3-yard run pulled Vanderbilt within 14-9, and Brock Taylor’s third field goal made it 21-15 with 6:26 left, but Auburn ran out the clock.
Vanderbilt finished with a 311-279 edge in total offense and 22 first downs to Auburn’s 15.
