This year’s event aims to feed 32,000 people by preparing 2,000 cooked turkeys and distributing an additional 2,000 frozen turkeys. The turkeys will be distributed through Nashville Rescue Mission, 11 surrounding county school systems and community organizations serving those in need.

“There are two things in this scenario that continue to resonate with me,” said Lawrence in a release. “The first is the people in need. Every year, that need continues to grow. Whatever circumstances have brought these individuals to this point are not for me or anyone else to judge. I believe we are all called to help and do whatever we can to ease their suffering, even if only for a little while, without judgment or condemnation.”

Last year’s 20th anniversary event became the largest in Mission:Possible history despite an unexpected setback. A refrigerated truck breakdown resulted in the loss of 650 turkeys from the original 3,600-turkey supply. The Middle Tennessee community responded by donating more than 2,400 additional turkeys, bringing the total to 5,350 cooked and frozen turkeys distributed and providing more than 50,000 meals.

Several country artists and celebrities supported last year’s event, including Jamey Johnson, Tucker Wetmore, Charles Esten, Dustin Lynch, Rodney Atkins, Clint Black, Rhett Akins and others. Lawrence emphasized the importance of community involvement and the volunteers who help make the annual event possible.

“I truly believe that if we all give back a little, we can make the world a better place,” Lawrence said. “It’s not always about money. Sometimes, it’s about leading by example. If what we’ve done with Mission: Possible inspires someone to do something similar in their own town, then we’ve made a difference.”

Since its founding, Mission: Possible has fried more than 15,000 turkeys, provided over 135,000 meals to people experiencing homelessness throughout Middle Tennessee, donated more than $1.3 million to Nashville Rescue Mission, and raised over $2.5 million to support its charitable efforts. Additional sponsorships, donations, and volunteer opportunities are available. Those interested in participating can email amanda@tlmissionpossible.com.
