Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee has proclaimed Sept. 25, 2026, as “Dolly Parton 9 to 5 Day” across the state.
The proclamation recognizes Parton’s life and legacy, including her roots in East Tennessee and her contributions to music, entertainment, education, tourism and charitable service.
The proclamation notes Parton’s influence on American culture, as well as her efforts to lift others, expand opportunities and encourage children to pursue their dreams.
It also recognizes her connection with people from all walks of life and her role as an ambassador for Tennessee.
The date is tied to Parton’s iconic “9 to 5” song and film. Nashville and other Middle TN cities are also marking Sept. 25 with a citywide “Dolly Day” celebration, with businesses, music venues and other organizations participating in events and charitable efforts.
The proclamation was signed by Lee on Sept. 24 and declares Sept. 25 as “Dolly Parton 9 to 5 Day” in Tennessee.
