Taylor Fresh Foods is recalling products made with jalapeño peppers because of possible Salmonella contamination, including one product sold in Tennessee.
The recall follows Coast Citrus Distributors’ voluntary recall of fresh jalapeños that may be linked to a multistate Salmonella outbreak under investigation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Investigators have identified a grower in Sinaloa, Mexico, as the potential source of the contaminated peppers.
In Tennessee, the recalled product is the Private Selection Spicy Roast Beef Sandwich (8.53 ounces) sold at Kroger stores with “Best If Used By” dates of Aug. 7 through Aug. 12, 2026. View Full List of Recalled Items
Taylor Fresh Foods said the recalled products were distributed to retail centers in several states with “Best If Used By” dates through Aug. 16, 2026. The company has stopped sourcing jalapeños from the affected grower, Taylor Farms, and is using alternative suppliers.
No illnesses have been linked to the recalled Taylor Fresh Foods products, according to the company.
Consumers should not eat the recalled product and should throw it away or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
Salmonella can cause fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and stomach cramps. Young children, older adults and people with weakened immune systems are at greater risk of severe illness.
