The colorful school bus featured in Kenny Chesney’s “American Kids” music video and on the cover of The Big Revival will make a stop in Nashville as part of a pop-up experience celebrating the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s new exhibition, Kenny Chesney: Living in Fast Forward.
Presented by Blue Chair Bay Rum, the pop-up will take place at Walk of Fame Park, located across the street from the museum. The free event, held in collaboration with the Nashville Downtown Partnership, will include photo opportunities with the bus, prizes, and summertime games in the park.
The experience will be open from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 23, through Sunday, July 26, weather permitting.
During select times each day, guests will also have the chance to print their own Kenny Chesney exhibit keepsake poster from Hatch Show Print, the nearly 150-year-old letterpress print shop owned and operated by the museum.
Chesney’s No. 1 hit “American Kids” celebrated individuality and free-spirited youth. The bus, hand-painted by Chesney and his friends, has become a symbol of freedom, friendship, and finding joy in the moment.
Kenny Chesney: Living in Fast Forward opens July 23 at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and will run through June 2027. The exhibit traces Chesney’s journey from hearing music on the radio and local television in East Tennessee to playing for tips, performing with East Tennessee State University’s bluegrass band and becoming one of the top touring artists of the century. The exhibit is included with museum admission.
On opening day, July 23, museum visitors can also design their own paper version of the “American Kids” bus from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Taylor Swift Education Center. The activity is open to all ages and is included with museum admission. It is free for museum members.
