From billboards to marquees to the gates of her home in Brentwood, the love for Dolly Parton continued to flow as fans gathered to leave flowers, handwritten notes and other tributes in her memory. There were tears, hugs and stories shared among strangers, including memories of the last times Dolly had been spotted around town at some of her favorite local places.
At one point, a school bus passed by her home in Brentwood and children leaned toward the windows shouting, “We love you, Dolly.” Nearby, a mother sat in the grass next to the gates reading a book about Dolly to her children.
For many, it felt like more than a place to leave flowers. It became a place to come together, remember Dolly, and share what she meant to them one story at a time.
