Nashville Ballet will welcome the holiday season with the return of its annual Nutcracker Tea on Sunday, Nov. 22, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Belmont University’s Fisher Center for the Performing Arts. Click for More Events
The family-friendly event serves as the official kickoff to Paul Vasterling’s Emmy Award-winning Nashville’s Nutcracker, which returns to the Tennessee Performing Arts Center’s Jackson Hall from November 27 through December 27.
Co-chaired by Ann Ralls Brown, Whitney Kalb and Alexandra Schneider, Nutcracker Tea will transform the Fisher Center into the magical world of Clara, the Sugar Plum Fairy, the Mouse King and the Nutcracker Prince. Guests will enjoy an interactive, abbreviated performance inspired by Nashville’s Nutcracker, featuring music, dance and appearances by characters from the production.
The afternoon will also include festive treats, holiday crafts, family activities and professional holiday-themed photo opportunities. Adults can enjoy drinks and small bites throughout the event.
Proceeds from Nutcracker Tea benefit the School of Nashville Ballet Scholarship Fund, which provides more than $250,000 annually in merit- and need-based scholarships to help students of all ages, backgrounds and abilities access dance education.
“Nutcracker Tea has become one of our most treasured holiday traditions because it brings families together to experience the joy, imagination and wonder of ballet in a truly personal way,” Nashville Ballet Artistic Director and CEO Nick Mullikin said.
“Whether it’s a child’s first introduction to the magic of Nashville’s Nutcracker or a family’s annual holiday celebration, this event creates memories that last a lifetime while helping provide scholarships that make dance education accessible to students across our community.”
