The Tennessee Titans have locked up their best defensive player. Jeffery Simmons, the team’s four-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle, agreed to a multi-year contract extension with Nashville’s NFL franchise on Friday. The deal keeps one of the most dominant interior defenders in the league in a Titans uniform for the foreseeable future.

Simmons is the centerpiece of Tennessee’s defense and has established himself as the premier defensive tackle in the NFL. Simmons Had a Career Year in 2025
Simmons posted the best statistical season of his career in 2025, recording 11 sacks, 60 quarterback pressures, 67 tackles, 17 tackles for a loss, and three forced fumbles. That sack total broke Jurrell Casey’s franchise record of 10.5 sacks in a single season by a Titans defensive tackle in the team’s Titans era, which dates to 1999. He was named first-team All-Pro following the season, adding to second-team All-Pro honors in 2021 and 2022.
Where Simmons Ranks Among NFL’s Elite Defensive Tackles
The 2025 season placed Simmons in rare company. Over the last 10 seasons, only Simmons and Aaron Donald have recorded at least 10 sacks, 16 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, and three passes defensed in a single campaign. He also joined a short list of players in franchise history — alongside Ray Childress, Jurrell Casey, William Fuller, and Sean Jones — to record five or more sacks in five consecutive seasons since individual sacks became an official stat in 1982.
Simmons’ Career Numbers With Tennessee
Drafted by Tennessee in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Simmons has spent his entire seven-year career with the Titans. He’s accumulated 383 tackles, 42.5 sacks, 275 quarterback pressures, and 65 tackles for a loss. He received a previous contract extension during the 2023 offseason, making this his second long-term deal with the franchise.

Beyond the stats, Simmons has become one of the most recognized figures in the Tennessee Titans organization off the field. He’s a three-time Community Man of the Year winner for the team and a five-time captain. The Titans also named him their nominee for the NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year award, which recognizes players for outstanding community service alongside on-field performance.
