Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. expanded its July recall to include one lot of Great Value Organic Triple Berry Blend 10-ounce packages. The recalled product was sold at select Walmart stores in 16 states, including Mississippi, Alabama, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Texas.
Consumers should check their freezers for the affected product.
The recalled product is:
- Great Value Organic Triple Berry Blend, 10 ounces
- Contains strawberries, blackberries and blueberries
- UPC: 7874211226
- Lot code: 6040 01-6
- Best If Used By: Feb. 9, 2028
Consumers who have the affected lot should not eat it. The product should be thrown away or returned to Walmart for a full refund.
The FDA said E. coli O145 is a type of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli that can cause severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, including bloody diarrhea, and vomiting. Some infections can lead to hemolytic uremic syndrome, a serious complication that is more likely to affect young children, older adults and people with weakened immune systems.
No illnesses have been linked to this specific product as of Sept. 2. The recall is being carried out as a precaution following information connected to the earlier recall.
