Thirty years after launching one of the biggest concert tours in history, Garth Brooks is heading back to the arenas. More Entertainment News
Brooks announced the Blame It All On My Roots Tour, a full-scale arena tour that will bring back his iconic Drum Pod, the production element that helped redefine his live shows in the 1990s. The tour will open with two nights in Indianapolis, Indiana, on August 21 and 22 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
The announcement comes after Brooks’ sold-out performance at London’s Hyde Park.
In 1996, Brooks’ Drum Pod tour became a defining moment in live country music. Recordings from that tour were later released as Double Live, which is certified 25 million by the RIAA and remains the best-selling live album in recorded music history. The tour also helped Brooks earn back-to-back CMA Entertainer of the Year honors and two Artist of the Decade awards.
“Going back into the arenas is about putting the stadium show in a box,” Brooks said in a release. “The excitement gets multiplied by the intimacy. Every seat is a great seat. This is personal.”
The Blame It All On My Roots Tour will also serve as the foundation for Killer Live, a new live recording project by Brooks.
With ’90s country continuing its major resurgence, Brooks is bringing his biggest hits back to the arena setting where many fans first saw him become one of country music’s biggest stars.
