Cannon County students will have the opportunity to receive seasonal flu vaccinations at their schools Oct. 6 through a partnership between the Cannon County Health Department and Cannon County School System.
The vaccinations are optional and require electronic permission from a parent or guardian. Health Department nurses will administer the flu vaccine as an injectable shot. The school-based clinics are being offered as a convenience to families and are intended to help reduce the impact of seasonal flu in the community and school absenteeism.
The clinics will begin once the vaccine arrives at the health department, with school visits currently scheduled for Oct. 6.
Parents and guardians who want their child to receive the vaccine must complete an electronic consent form by Oct. 2 at https://redcap.link/cannoncountyslv2026. A separate consent form is required for each student receiving the vaccine
For students with insurance, including TennCare and private insurance, the health department will file a claim with the insurance provider. Uninsured students may be charged up to $20.
Families who want to be considered for a reduced sliding-scale fee can contact the Cannon County Health Department at 615-563-4243 and provide their family size and income.
