Taco Bell and Duolingo are teaming up to turn National Taco Day into Global Taco Day on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026, marking the first time the annual celebration goes worldwide. The idea is simple: the word “taco” stays nearly the same in more than 30 languages, from Spanish and French to German, Japanese (タコス, Takosu) and Hindi (टैको, Taiko). Duo Habanero Sauce Is a New Limited-Edition Flavor
Duo Habanero Sauce was created just for the Taco Bell and Duolingo collaboration. It has a bright, tangy flavor with fruity notes and habanero heat that builds as you eat. The packets carry taco-themed sayings in nine languages: English, Spanish, French, Hindi, Portuguese, German, Korean, Mandarin and Japanese. In international markets, the packet mix will reflect each country’s native language along with some of the most popular languages Duolingo users are learning there.
Where and How to Get Free Duo Habanero Sauce
The sauce launches Oct. 6 at participating Taco Bell restaurants in the U.S., Canada, Australia, China, India, Spain and the UK, while supplies last. In the U.S., customers get one free Duo Habanero packet with the purchase of a Doritos Locos Taco, limited to one per qualifying item. Extra packets cost $0.20 each. Outside the U.S., free Duo Habanero Sauce comes through local Global Taco Day offers, which vary by market.
Taco Bell Rewards Members Can Get a Free Month of Super Duolingo
From Oct. 1 through Oct. 6, Taco Bell Rewards Members can unlock one free month of Super Duolingo, the app’s paid subscription tier. Codes must be redeemed by Nov. 15 and stay active for 30 days after activation. It’s a handy option for anyone trying to keep a Duolingo learning streak going.
Limited-Edition Taco Bell x Duo Plushies Drop Oct. 6
A total of 1,000 Taco Bell x Duo plushies will be available across participating markets worldwide. Each one features Duo in a custom Taco Bell uniform with a mini headset. In the U.S., Taco Bell Rewards Members can visit the Tuesday Drops page on Oct. 6 at 2 p.m. PT for a chance to grab one while supplies last. Fans in the UK, Canada, India, Australia, China and Spain will have chances to get a plushie through local events.
How Taco Bell Has Expanded National Taco Day Over the Years
Global Taco Day is the latest step in several years of Taco Bell changes to the holiday. In 2022, the chain’s Taco Lover’s Pass stretched one day into 30 days of tacos. In 2023, Taco Bell worked to cancel the “Taco Tuesday” trademark so any restaurant could use the phrase. In 2024, it worked with National Day Calendar to move National Taco Day to the first Tuesday in October, and in 2025 it marked the new date’s first anniversary with deals for customers.
How to Join the Global Taco Day Celebration
To take part, download the Taco Bell app to collect rewards, redeem the free Super Duolingo month through the Duolingo app if you’re a Taco Bell Rewards Member, and order a Doritos Locos Taco on Oct. 6 to get a free Duo Habanero Sauce packet. Taco Bell and Duolingo will share where Duo appears next on their social media channels throughout the day.
