Tickets for Cameron Mackintosh’s new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera go on sale today, Friday, Sept. 18, at 10 a.m. for its upcoming Nashville engagement at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center. More Entertainment News
The musical will run Feb. 3-14, 2027, bringing one of Broadway’s most recognizable productions back to Nashville.
The current North American tour features Isaiah Bailey as the Phantom, Jordan Lee Gilbert as Christine Daaé and Daniel Lopez as Raoul. The cast also includes Midori Marsh, William Thomas Evans, Carrington Vilmont, Lisa Vroman, Christopher Bozeka and Melo Ludwig.
The production retains Maria Björnson’s original design and is directed by Seth Sklar-Heyn, based on Harold Prince’s original direction. Chrissie Cartwright recreated and adapted the musical staging and choreography by Gillian Lynne.
The new version was first introduced in London when Phantom reopened at His Majesty’s Theatre in 2021.
Cameron Mackintosh said the refreshed production keeps the spirit of the original while updating parts of the show for a new generation of audiences.
“I’m really delighted to bring Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera back to thrill American audiences once again after its phenomenal record-breaking run on Broadway,” Mackintosh said in a release.
Andrew Lloyd Webber said the show remains defined by the combination of music, design, romance and live theater.
“I still get goosebumps every time that chandelier comes alive,” Lloyd Webber said.
The Phantom of the Opera tells the story of Christine Daaé, a young soprano who captures the attention of a mysterious masked musical genius living beneath the Paris Opera House. As the Phantom becomes her mentor and falls in love with her, Christine is also reunited with her childhood sweetheart, Raoul, creating a dramatic love triangle.
The musical features some of Lloyd Webber’s best-known songs, including “The Music of the Night,” “All I Ask of You,” “Masquerade,” “Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again” and the title song.
Since its London debut in 1986, The Phantom of the Opera has been seen by more than 160 million people in 217 cities and 52 territories, with productions performed in 23 languages.
The Broadway production opened in 1988 and won seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. It went on to become the longest-running show in Broadway history before closing in April 2023 after nearly 14,000 performances.
Tickets for the Nashville engagement go on sale Friday, Sept. 18, at 10 a.m. through TPAC.org.
