The Library of Congress
The Library is devastated to learn of the passing of Dolly Parton, not only a talented musician, but also a true titan of children’s literacy. Her Imagination Library has received multiple Library of Congress Literacy Awards and, in 2018, Dolly visited us to donate the program’s 100 millionth book to our collection. She even hosted story time.

Visit Music City
Today, Nashville mourns the loss of one of our own.
Dolly Parton came to Nashville with a dream and went on to share her music, her heart, and her unmistakable spirit with the world. Her songs became part of the American songbook, but her impact reached far beyond music. She helped shape the Music City we know today, and through a lifetime of generosity and kindness, her impact on Nashville is immeasurable.
When Dolly was inducted into the #MusicCityWalkOfFame in 2009, she spoke about what Nashville meant to her: “It strikes me in a pure place in my heart and in my soul to know that I am part of this wonderful city.”
Sixteen years later, we had the privilege of honoring her with the E.W. “Bud” Wendell Award for the extraordinary impact she made on Nashville’s hospitality industry throughout her life and career.
It’s difficult to imagine Music City without Dolly Parton. What she gave Nashville can be heard in our music, felt in our community, and seen in generations of artists who followed the path she helped create.
We will always love you, Dolly.

Grand Ole Opry
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we say goodbye to a true country music icon, Opry member Dolly Parton.
There is no doubt Dolly’s mark on the world, and on us here at the Grand Ole Opry, will be deeply felt for generations to come. She taught us to always lead with kindness, generosity, and compassion. May her legacy live on through her songs, the lives she touched, and the countless artists she inspired. There will never, ever be another one like her.
We will always love you, Dolly.

Kacey Musgraves
Dolly. This one really hurts. The world feels a lot less sparkly all of a sudden. So glad she’s with her Carl Dean.

Reba McEntire
Well, I just got the news that my buddy Dolly passed onto the higher and greater side.

Dolly, thank you for all the wonderful things you did for us here on earth.

Your love, your music and you gave so much with your huge huge heart.

There will never ever be another you.
We will remember and cherish every memory and every note you ever played and sang.

Thank you, Lord, for Dolly.
She’s gonna have a blast in heaven singing all her favorite songs with all her family and friends who have gone on before her.

I’ll never forget the first time I met you and I’ll never forget our last conversation. I hold it with love in my heart.

I will always love you,
Reba

Rare is the one who climbs to the pinnacle of fame, then scoffs at its allure, only to retain the genuine humility that defines them.
Dolly Parton was one of a kind, who loved people, her work, her family, and her Lord. Tennessee has forever been changed – enhanced – by her, and will never be quite the same without Dolly

Lily Tomlin
Friend. Songwriter. The Great Harmonizer of Humanity. Dolly. Dolly. Dolly. Forever Dolly

Heartbroken today Honestly..I have no words right now.

KC and the Sunshine Band
I am in shock. I met Dolly back in the late ’70s. We had the same manager, and I was lucky enough to meet her and know her throughout the years, and then we ended up with the same management team again years later. She was one of the sweetest and kindest people I had ever met. I have many fond memories that I will cherish and hold close to my heart. Such a talent and a tremendous loss to pop and country music and to those who knew and loved her. She will truly be missed.

Dolly Parton was the rarest kind of person. She brought light, joy, and love everywhere she went and was unceasingly kind and inspirational to everyone she ever met. Her legacy will live on for generations through not only her music, but also her dedication to philanthropic causes like Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and a whole mountain of other causes that bettered and continue to better the lives of people in Tennessee and the world. It was one of our great honors to host Dolly and her family for their Christmas parties over the last several years, and we will dearly miss seeing her during Christmas seasons to come.
Thank you, Dolly, for being a shining light in a world that can too often be dark and dim. We love you and we will miss you.

Country Music Hall of Fame
Dolly Parton’s legacy is not celebrity, but humanity,” said Kyle Young, CEO of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. “She was a champion of equality and literacy. She was a picture of dignity, even when dressed outrageously. Anyone who seeks to be more like Dolly is on the right track, but they’ll never get to the finish line. She came from poverty to become the most important native of Tennessee. She shared her fortunes for the good of all of us, and shared her soul in every note she sang.

Blake Shelton
I can say with absolute certainty that we are all feeling the same heart brokenness today. I only got to spend any real time with Dolly when Gwen and I got to work with her on The Voice. I want everyone to know that she was the EXACT person that you think she is. It was like being with the funnest, most loving, most caring and closest member of your family. Truly a loss for the entire world. We love you Dolly.

Dollywood
With heavy hearts, the Dollywood family mourns the passing of our beloved Dreamer-in-Chief, Dolly Parton. Everyone at Dollywood shares the sorrow of countless people around the world touched by Dolly’s warmth, wisdom and generous spirit. Dolly’s heartfelt wish was that Dollywood always remain a place of joy, hope and togetherness—a space where families and friends could honor her memory, not with silence, but with laughter, music and shared dreams.

“The greatest privilege of my life has been helping Dolly bring her dreams to life at Dollywood,” said Eugene Naughton, Dollywood Parks & Resorts President. “Dolly’s heart was as vast as the mountains she cherished, and her compassion knew no bounds. She inspired generations to dream boldly and love deeply. While we grieve her loss, we are honored and committed to carry her light forward. Her legacy will continue to shine in every melody sung, every smile shared and every dream kindled within these gates.”

Dolly’s enduring legacy extends beyond her music and generosity to her remarkable work ethic—an inspiration to people everywhere. In her spirit, Dollywood will be open Wednesday as Dolly wanted, always reminding everyone with her signature sparkle — “the show must go on.” Together, we honor her by carrying forward her message of love, perseverance, and hope.

Bill Anderson
The last thing Dolly said to me was, “Bill Anderson – I Will Always Love You.” She was looking me in the eye from the giant video screen in the Grand Ole Opry House on the Occasion of my 65th Opry anniversary a few weeks ago. She was Smiling as only Dolly could, making my night even more special than it already was. The news of her passing has rocked my world, but as we sang together back in 2023, “Someday It’ll All Make Sense.”

Williamson Health
Today, we join our community and so many around the world in remembering the incomparable Dolly Parton.
A few years ago, our Williamson Health newborns helped us pay tribute to Dolly through one of our monthly baby photoshoots. One of our sweet little stars donned her very own “Coat of Many Colors” in celebration of a woman who brought so much color to the world.
Today, that photo feels even more meaningful.
We are deeply saddened by Dolly’s passing and grateful for the extraordinary legacy she leaves behind — through her music, her generosity, her love for Tennessee and the countless lives she touched.
Thank you for the music, the memories and the joy, Dolly. You will always hold a special place in Tennessee’s heart.
