After more than 25 million votes and over 50,000 entries, the Pet Lovers’ Choice Awards have named their “Best in State” pets, including Tennessee’s winner, Sawyer.
Sawyer earned the top spot for Tennessee in the national pet competition. On his contest page, Sawyer is described as “a gentle sweet baby” who loves people. His owner also shared that he is called “handsome” so often that he thinks that is his name. More Local Living News
The Pet Lovers’ Choice Awards celebrate pets from across the country through a fan-voted competition presented by USA TODAY Pets, a national media partner of the awards. The competition featured entries from all 50 states, with winners determined by public voting.
In addition to celebrating standout pets, the Pet Lovers’ Choice Awards has raised more than $1.4 million for Best Friends Animal Society, a national nonprofit working to save the lives of dogs and cats in shelters. Each paid vote cast during the competition supported the organization’s work with shelters and rescue groups across the country.
“Thanks to the Pet Lovers’ Choice Awards and the millions of Americans who voted, Best Friends Animal Society has already been able to award grants to over 100 shelters and rescue groups across the country,” said Julie Castle, CEO of Best Friends Animal Society in a release. “Collaborations like this are key to saving pets’ lives and getting them where they belong: out of shelters and into loving homes.”
The Pet Lovers’ Choice Awards is a fan-voted national awards show created to celebrate the bond between pets and the people who love them, while also raising funds to help animals in need.
