The Cannon County Fire Department is mourning the sudden passing of Karen Ashford, a dedicated public servant and community advocate.
Ashford served in numerous roles, including 911 communicator, County Commissioner, firefighter, school bus operator, Fire Board member, and active supporter of emergency services.
Colleagues described her as a friend to all and someone who cared deeply for the people of Cannon County.
Officials said the county was blessed by her lifetime of service and commitment to improving the community.
