Tennessee-based A. Marshall Hospitality, the restaurant’s parent company, announced the closure, citing ongoing economic pressures and changes in downtown Nashville.

“Deacon’s New South has been a special part of our family for almost 10 years, and we are incredibly grateful to the team members, loyal guests and Nashville community who have supported us throughout the years,” said Claire Crowell, CEO of A. Marshall Hospitality in a statement.

Crowell said downtown Nashville has changed significantly over the past decade, and the current economic environment has forced the company to make difficult decisions.

“While we will certainly miss welcoming guests to Deacon’s, we are proud of what we have built and the memories made here. We look forward to seeing our guests just down the street at Puckett’s Nashville,” Crowell said.

The announcement follows the recent closures of two Puckett’s Restaurant locations in Hendersonville, Tennessee, and Cullman, Alabama.

A. Marshall Hospitality, a family-owned hospitality group, continues to operate six Puckett’s locations across Tennessee, including its downtown Nashville restaurant. The company also operates Scout’s Pub in Franklin.

The company said it remains focused on strengthening its existing restaurants and positioning its businesses for long-term sustainability.
