Nashville Zoo will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with its fourth annual Hispanic Heritage Festival on Saturday, Sept. 26. Click for More Events
The event, presented by Twice Daily and held in partnership with Conexión Américas, will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and feature live entertainment, traditional food, cultural activities and family-friendly programming throughout the Zoo.
Festival activities will include main stage performances, community organizations, interactive booths, a Nashville Public Library puppet show, Pan Dulce samples while supplies last and a Craft Creation Tent.
New this year, a Kids Play Zone near the festival area will be offered with support from the Nashville Sounds and Nashville Soccer Club.
Guests can also see roaming Catrina performers in the Día de los Muertos celebration area at Exhibition Peru. Animal encounters and educational programs will be offered in both English and Spanish.
Food and drinks inspired by Hispanic and Latino cultures will also be available for purchase at concession stands and Zoo restaurants, including empanadas, chicharrónes, horchata, street tacos and margaritas.
“We are always working to ensure that Nashville Zoo is accessible and inclusive to all members of our community,” said Roger Torbert, Nashville Zoo Education Director in a release. “With the significant involvement of our longtime partners at Conexión Américas, we can share some amazing aspects of Hispanic culture and educate guests on conservation issues impacting Central and South America.”
Conexión Américas was founded in 2002 and works to support Latino families across Middle Tennessee through education, entrepreneurship and community programs.
Admission to the Hispanic Heritage Festival is included with regular Nashville Zoo admission or membership.
