The appearance marks another milestone in a career that has taken Poltz to stages around the world, from the Royal Albert Hall to Red Rocks.

“I’ve played a lot of strange and wonderful places in my life from The Royal Albert Hall to Red Rocks but somehow I’ve finally been invited to play The Grand Ole Opry,” Poltz said in a release. “I’ve spent most of my life traveling around with my guitar, chasing songs, and occasionally wondering what town I’m in, so landing in that famous circle feels pretty darn special.”

Poltz added that he wished his parents were still alive to see the milestone.

The Opry debut comes during a busy year for the veteran performer, who released his 14th studio album, JoyRide, in January through Red House Records.

Produced by Dex Green at 3Sirens in East Nashville, the 10-song album includes “If It Bleeds, It Leads,” “Love a Little Bigger,” co-written with Vince Herman of Leftover Salmon, and “Fixin’ Up,” co-written with Jim Lauderdale and Skip Black.

Poltz has spent much of 2026 on the road and will continue touring throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe. His fall schedule includes appearances at AmericanaFest in Nashville, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in San Francisco and the Moab Folk Festival before his Opry debut in November.

Known for his mix of songwriting, humor and storytelling, Poltz has built a career spanning more than three decades. He first gained attention as frontman for The Rugburns before launching a solo career and collaborating with artists including Jewel, Billy Strings, Molly Tuttle, The Wood Brothers and Andy Frasco.

Poltz is also well known for co-writing Jewel’s hit “You Were Meant for Me.”

His Nov. 24 appearance will mark his first time performing on the Grand Ole Opry stage.
