Wedgewood-Houston is adding a new holiday attraction this year: The Rink Under the Giant Guitar, an outdoor ice-skating rink opening Friday, Nov. 20, 2026. Click for More Events
Located beneath the neighborhood’s landmark Giant Guitar, the seasonal rink will remain open through Monday, Jan. 18, 2027, offering ice skating, holiday treats and special programming throughout the season.
Perenn, the all-day bakery and café known for its house-made breads and pastries, will serve a seasonal menu at the rink featuring hot chocolate, spiced cider, cookies and other winter treats. Nearby in Wedgewood Village, the company is also preparing to open Perenn Grocery this fall, featuring a bakery, café and neighborhood market.
The rink will be open daily from 4 to 7 p.m., with extended hours from noon to 10 p.m. during the weeks of Dec. 21 and Dec. 28. Special hours will be observed on Christmas Eve, from noon to 4 p.m., and the rink will be closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.
Admission to the ice is free, while skate rentals will cost $10.
Additional programming is expected to include themed music and movie nights, a singles skate night and other events for families and guests of all ages. Details about concessions and a limited corporate buyout package for private and holiday gatherings will be announced later.
