Middle Tennessee graduate defender Emma Brown has signed a professional contract with Durham FC, a Women’s Super League 2 club in England. The move makes her the first Blue Raider to reach the professional ranks since Peyton DePriest signed with French club St. Etienne following the conclusion of her MTSU career in 2022. Brown’s Journey From Middlesbrough to the Professional Ranks
Brown is a native of Middlesbrough, England, meaning her professional move brings her back to her home country. She spent two seasons at Middle Tennessee as a graduate defender, starting all 39 possible matches across both years and consistently ranking first on the team in minutes played.
A Strong 2025 Season Paved the Way
In her final season with the Blue Raiders, Brown helped the team tie the conference lead for regular season clean sheets with eight. Her contributions earned her 2025 All-Conference USA Second Team recognition, a Defensive Player of the Week honor for the week of Oct. 28, and a spot on the All-CUSA All-Academic Team.
She also played a key role in a late-season run that saw MTSU record three clean sheets in its final four matches, including a 1-0 win over FIU in the first round of the Conference USA Women’s Soccer Championship.
A Productive Senior Season in 2024
Brown’s 2024 campaign added an offensive dimension to her game. She assisted two goals against Jacksonville State on Oct. 3 and followed that with an assist and her first collegiate goal against Louisiana Tech on Nov. 1, closing out her Blue Raider career on a strong note.
