Gellert Global Group is recalling 8.1 oz packages of Aldi’s Fusia Asian Inspirations Kimchi and Tofu Kimbap due to an undeclared fish (tuna) allergen, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced July 2, 2026.
The Elizabeth, New Jersey-based company warns that people with an allergy or severe sensitivity to fish run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product. Upon discovery of the issue, Aldi immediately removed the impacted products from store shelves.
The recalled kimbap was distributed to select Aldi retail stores in Connecticut, Washington D.C., Delaware, Louisiana, Maryland, Maine, Massachusetts, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Vermont and West Virginia.
The product comes in an 8.1 oz sealed, microwave-safe plastic wrapper and carries a best-if-used-by date of Oct. 8, 2027. No illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall.
According to Gellert Global Group, the recall was initiated after a consumer discovered the fish-containing product had been distributed in packaging that did not disclose the presence of fish. The company says the problem stemmed from a temporary breakdown in production and packaging procedures that has since been corrected.
Consumers who purchased the product are urged to discard it immediately or return it to their local Aldi store for a full refund.
