Thomas Rhett, whose career has produced 25 No. 1 hits over the past decade, was inducted into the Music City Walk of Fame on Wednesday, July 8th.
The induction ceremony took place just one day before Rhett brings his The Soundtrack of Life Tour to GEODIS Park on July 9, with longtime friend Niall Horan, who was in attendance to watch his friend receive the 113th star on the Music City Walk of Fame.
Country artist Jordan Davis honored Rhett at the induction by stating, “You can’t fake authenticity. It has to be earned, and Thomas has earned that in every step of the way.”
He continued, “This star now becomes a permanent part of this city that you’ve helped represent so well. But the legacy that you’re building extends far beyond your words, your songs. It’s found in the way that you love your family, that you encourage your friends, and that you treat people with respect and use your platform for a purpose. I know everyone here is incredibly proud of you, and I hope you know how grateful I am to call you a friend. And I’m excited to see what comes next. Congratulations, Thomas. No one deserves this more.”
Thomas Rhett spoke at the ceremony, thanking his family for their support, and had a special message for the fans. He stated, “Thanks so much for spending your hard-earned money to buy a t-shirt, ticket, or record. Thank you for singing these songs louder than I ever could. Thanks for letting this music be a small part of your life. This star may have my name on it, but it belongs to a heck of a lot of people.”
Created in 2006, the Music City Walk of Fame is located on Nashville’s Music Mile, a roughly one- mile stretch that connects downtown to Music Row. Permanent sidewalk medallions with the names of inductees are displayed in a star design.
The Music City Walk of Fame is an official project of Music City Inc., the charitable foundation of the NCVC and is produced with the support of founding sponsor Gibson. Additional partners include Metro Nashville International Airport (BNA), the City of Nashville, Metro Parks and Recreation, and Nashville Downtown Partnership.
